Growing like a weed

Remember Baby M?

She’s so big! And is just loving her two big brothers!

Ok, ok… that’s not really fair. She is a lucky girl to have such sweet boys to look after her. They’ll surely teach her about tickling and tackling…

…and to (not) throw like a girl!

It’s been so fun watching your family grow. From two sweet little boys to a growing bump, to M’s grand entrance and now a family of 5.

Ten for tea

I like to think of birthday parties as just extra special portrait sessions. Of course I must get all of the party moments. But beyond that, I just watch the kids play and try to find that special look in each of them. Like a family session… a family with a lot of kids!

Last week, B turned 6. She wanted a fancy big girl tea party so her mom set it up at N’s Garden. B and her friends were treated like princesses!

If you’ve ever been there then you know the croissants are just to die for. I don’t know how they do it, but I think next time I go I should skip ordering any regular food and just stuff myself on these!

But I digress. So the party was planned for this beautiful garden with this delicious food and then… it rained. And it was cold. But we moved the party indoors and everyone still had a great time. I snuck outside with B when the rain slowed a bit because I just couldn’t stand to let this garden go to waste!

I always try to make sure I at least get one shot of every party guest. Who you celebrate your birthday with is a big part of the day!

And another important detail is the cake. A perfect castle for the princess!

Despite the weather, the party was just lovely. Certainly B looks like she had fun!

Daddy’s little girls

Many of my clients are looking for very “Okinawa” looking photos. I think we do a pretty good job of making Japanese-esque pictures. But this week must have been special because we got lucky. I’m not sure you can get more Okinawan than the this! Didn’t they invent Karate?

We’d been waiting for Dad to return from a deployment to do this session. Looks like the girls are happy to have him home!

But it’s always fun to play with Mommy too!

In the end, this one’s still a Daddy’s girl. I love this one in black and white.

She had a birthday party this weekend too. Pictures soon!

Sparkly Things

If you haven’t heard of Suzanne Somersall yet, then listen closely! You’ll want to hear this. Suzanne is an up and coming jewelry designer who is now on Okinawa. Her newest offering, the Sakura Collection was inspired by Japan’s very own cherry blossoms. She contacted me for some commercial photography work to showcase her awesome jewelry with the real blossoms that were out in full force a few weeks ago. That’s a really fun way to spice up your cherry blossom photos!

Of course she did need some more traditional product shots as well. This week I got to see all of her goodies up close and personal. A couple of my favorite pieces were the fun pink sapphire star earrings:

And since I’m a diamond girl, these caught my attention:

Speaking of diamonds, she also does custom work. At this very minute, she’s designing a new wedding set for me exactly how I want it. If you know me at all, you know how detail oriented I am. Pleasing me can be a tall order! But Suzanne has been just fabulous to work with. You should check her out at www.suzsomer.com. Tell her I sent you!
